You have to buy something to go with your iPod Touch or iPhone in order to watch TV. Not worth it.
Deception
This is clearly an add-on for a specific product line. Fine. It looks like it might actually be cool, but I can't test it - as I don't own a TubeStick. However, what really bothers me is that this appear appears in the app store when I search for "elgato." I don't know if that's Apple's doing or (more likely?) the App developer's doing. Either way - it's inappropriate.

Ugh, some people drive me nuts. The app does EXACTLY what it says it does. I have the tubestick hybrid and really like it. Thank you developers for giving us free apps to compliment your product.

Stupidest app ever and I'm not paying $40
This app is stupid first it tell s you that you can watch unlimited tv then it tells you you have to buy this stupid stick to watch the tv!!!!!!!!!!! What ever you do don't buy this app!!!!!!!!! Unless you want to spend $40 on a tube to watch when you can all ready watch every thing else on the iPhone!!!!!!!!!! The only reason I put a star was because I had to put atleast one to write some thing!!!!!!!! Do what you want but Im just tellin ya my opinion

Every idiot on here needs to figure out where their brain is and turn it on and try reading. This is an app for people that already have the hardware, it's a great app that's free if you're already using the tube for other uses. If you don't have the tube, don't download the app and birch that it doesn't work!
Works as it should - Read the description
First, for those complaining: This application goes along with a commercial product. For those of us who have it, this is a nice add-on. Before complaining about how you need "other" bits and it's unfair, remember that the ONLY way to get an app to the iPhone is via the app store. So, how else would we get it? Chew on that before giving a technically clever app a one-star rating. And, who knows? Seeing this app may inspire some to get their product and continue to fund free add-one like this.
As for the app, it works well and is a nice value-add to my TubeStick Hybrid. Now I can get up an walk away and still watch my show. Near trick, and well-implemented.
No, I don't work for the makers of the app, I'm just tired of clueless people who post reviews before thinking.
Update: New version is even better. Too bad people are too stupid to read the description.
Does what it says
This is an add on program to an already excellent package, paid EUR 50 for tuner stick and the Tube software, and now this on top so I can watch TV when I am abroad from home and do recordings. The only thing that is a shame is the "mother" program must be running on the "home" Mac, if it could remotely start the program also I would have given 5 stars.

Both this app and the $40 "server" work as they should but sadly misunderstood which Elgato tuners were compatible. Hope that changes soon and then will add the other two stars.

Needs Software that costs 29.95Euro
This piece of software is the free part of a software sold from equinux. It took me some time to figure this out. I got their TV-Stick but with the standard software ( eyeTV ) from them, this will not work. You also need The Tube software from them. This is sold for 29.95€ or about 40US$ when converted.
They should not put it up for free, when it costs 29.95€.
The company did produce a good product with eyeTV, but the way they are selling the products does not appeal to me. Using eyeTV their are hidden extra costs which you do not know upfront.
I would be happy to know, if this applies to the Tube as well.

You have to download extra software on your comp. That cost extra Need a Tv tuner.The description of this app sound great.But it's very hassling trying to it up and running ,and if you don't really know what your doing. Then it is a total let down.Personally I want apps, where you only download on our Ipod or Iphone and go.

You know,let me remind you folks out there. All you app maker wannabes. The iPhone is a plug and play! And thus any application,before and after market should be such. Do not submit any crap in the app store that will require a wire here,a connection over there,or run out to Best buy and get a gadget to add to the iPhone so we can watch TV. It's supposed to be a stand alone independent,free from anything. Yeah,that powerful. Sure I like TV on my phone,but if I have to attach it to my mac or something else then it's worthless and a waste of my space!!

First off, people who download apps based only on the name and then complain about it not working are idiots. Although when you name something "Live TV" I suppose you're asking for trouble. The upside - it works. The downside? Getting the companion demo, The Tube, to work is a PAIN. First, it installs extra software without asking. You're actually downloading a large package to get you looking at ALL their software. You have to go through an extensive "registration" process to even try The Tube demo. You "buy" the demo for $0 to get a code to unlock the trial. The demo works for 15 days. Ok, fine. Except that the demo only works for 30 minutes at a time. Plus, The Tube must be running on your computer to run Live TV on your iPhone. It uses up MAJOR system resources which I can understand because of the data being pushed. But you need to realize that other people can't be using the system to do anything serious if you're going to be using Live TV. Also, you can't watch both at the same time. As soon as Live TV picks up the signal, The Tube is unavailable. Again, if you're ok with that this might be for you. One final comment: The Tube is a pretty decent front end DVR that I prefer over EyeTV 2.x. I had no problems using my Miglia MiniHD receiver. Now is it worth $40? Not yet convinced of that.

As far as I know I downloaded this and cannot get it to work where the incoming TV picture is running through composite cable as there is only one channel in that case and this only features analog channels. I have bought mostly everything that Equinux makes for my mac but unless someone can advise me different this is pretty useless if I can't watch it on my iphone.

Not a solution for real place-shifting. You can only watch your home TV while you are at home on your home wireless network. I guess it may be useful for rooms without a permanent TV set or enough space for one.

It Works!
I've had the Equinux Live TV app on my 1st Gen iPod Touch for about an hour and it works great anywhere in my home. The resolution of the Live TV picture on my Touch is not quite as good as those that are recorded and played back on the TubeToGo app, but still very viewable. The picture quality is actually better than most of the videos I've watched on YouTube. I did discover that the app works best if you hide the picture on your Mac while using Live TV. Well done Equinux!
