After becoming the best chess software worldwide on its own merits, the amazing version for iPhone and iPod Touch of Fritz Chess is finally here.
“Deep Fritz is more powerful than Deep Blue”
These words were said by the World Champion Vladimir Kramnik. Fritz beat him on 2006. As well, Fritz has beaten other chess master players as the legendary Garry Kasparov. And now the version of Fritz Chess for iPhone and iPod Touch is finally available! This edition of Fritz Chess invites you to discover a new way to understand the most traditional worldwide board game. Considered for a lot of people as an art, a science or even a psychic sport, the chess you will discover in Fritz Chess is all this and lots more. However, its main feature is that it is a funny and exciting game easy to learn, but difficult to dominate.
Both beginners (who will find an exclusive system of help) and the advanced players will agree saying that Fritz Chess is definitely the best chess game ever.
A two player’s mode is included!

Best chess game on the iPhone

Absolute best chess game on the iPhone, if not the best chess game on a mobile device. Great graphics, fast and extremely challenging, even great for analysis and learning opening book moves. Looking forward to any updates!
Several better options out there
by Chang He on July 18, 2009
Edited: after posting an initial negative review, several things cause me to revise my assessment. One, I have noticed some bugs in glaurung, causing it to crash, both on my phone and in my assessment. Two, the opening training here has grown on me. Three, I notice the slow animation speed actually encourages deliberate play, rather than blitz games. Four, i have tried tChess as well. Shredder is still the best, but Fritz is a close second or third with tChess up there as well.
-------------------
I have tried both Shredder, Glaurung, and this version of Fritz, and I have to say that Shredder and Glaurung are better in terms of strength and Shredder is far better in options. However, for the average player, the difference in strength isn't a big deal. The top settings are going to crush all but the top five or so percent of players anyway. What does make a difference are things like Shredder's ability to adapt to your strength, or to tell a move isn't good without giving a hint. Shredder also has more board appearance options and included chess problems. The last minor quibble I have is how slowly the pieces move. I understand having to take time to think, but the animation is trying my nerves. Shredder and Glaurung move far more quickly, even on their strongest settings. Maybe if this were more like the real Fritz, with downloadable lessons and the ability to load pgn games from the Internet it would be worth it. Pay the extra three bucks and get the better program.
Basic flaw
by Newsconsumer on June 30, 2009
Program would not recognize a draw by three-fold repetition.
Needless to say, this is a serious flaw, one not shared by other iPhone/iTouch chess programs I have downloaded.
The best

Best chess on the AppStore at this price!
I hope they could add online playing on a future release!
Best chess

I love Fritz, and have been playing for a long time with the pc version. This game is incredible for a mobile device, with a lot of good features and very good usability.
The chess engine is very strong!
It's a lot of fun to play with!
by Joe Bacon on June 08, 2009
It's stronger than other iPhone programs and its a lot of fun to play with. I wish Gammick would make a version of Fritz that would natively play on a Mac. C'mon guys give us MacFritz!
best by test

Best chess
by Artanis2 on May 27, 2009
With update 1.1 they have added all the features I was looking for, like game analysis and PGN export by mail.
The engine is very strong but, at higher levels, it takes long to compute sometimes. All the game interface is very nice compared to the rest of the chess games on the appstore. The number of options when playing is good too.
The review mode and the load/save with the board snapshot are my favourites features, although a bigger board on the load/save screen would be better.
If they include board setup it will be the perfect chess application!
very good

Magnific chess application. Very comfortable to use and very good interface.
Awesome

I have owned Fritz for year on my PC. Fritz has simply been the best chess engine available. I want to thank Gammot entertainment for their hard work on this first version. Most of the bad reviews here are wrong and not honest. If you will go online you can read several good reviews by legitimate site that give good ratings on Fritz. This is a great Chess program and first version has been done extremely well. Remember people this is version 1. Fritz on the PC is presently at version 11. Pocket Fritz is at version 3.1. So the iPhone has lot of time for improvements. Great start Gammit entertainment.
Lacks simple features...
by TechKnight99 on April 19, 2009
I am not able to drop and drag pieces. I can't see analysis. I can't even import PGNs. Hash Size? Flash Screen with Check? Glaurung is free with more features. I hope there is an update pack or I just wasted $10 dollars.
Simply The Best

I've been wainting for Fritz for a long
time. Finally, the wait is over. Apple should be more strict with the app store
because those two reviewers I don't
who they are working for they are way
off their reviews. Other than sabotage.
Disappointed
by Chessbook on April 06, 2009
I have Fritz PC and ChessBase 10. This is no Fritz. I beat the highest setting several times already and it plays almost the same game everytime.
Nice job Gammick...duh duh duh duh duh

Well if I was to write another chess program that was just about the same as all the rest out there I would make sure to call it fritz chess and I would be sure to include poorly written description meaning that game is goos and meaning funny for players of many kind........ jesus fu#$in christ.. cmon developers and start thinking with your mind's instead of your a*s. When you play a game of chess do you calculate different variations? Do you ask yourself questions to analyze a move before you make it? Do you ever wish that a chess program could record the main line of the game and also include variations so that at a later time you could go back and look at the game to see how things may have gone instead of just being able to see the frickin main line. No, never.... that must of been the response these jerks came up with when they wrote the game. Or perhaps they figured it was too hard to include the variations dialouge box that would have to pop up when some swingin dick wanted to save a variation. I guess that since pocket fritz has been out on the market for a while they figured that it was crap and then decided to scale the program back... WAYYYY BACKK... so they could sell it at ten bucks a pop and make a buck or two. I hope that is all you freaks make on this program. How about adding the features that pocket fritz AAAAAAAALLLLLLRRRREEEEEAAAADDDDDYYYYY frickin has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! two stars because it does not crash......
